TANECVALMEZ is entering its 10th year!

The International Festival of Contemporary Dance TANECVALMEZ is awaiting its first anniversary - it will be held for the 10th consecutive year. Since the beginning of its existence it has welcomed almost 20 Czech and foreign artists and companies, offered a series of accompanying events, including exhibitions, dance workshops and screenings, and in 2016 it has crossed the border of Valašské Meziříčí and spread to other cities. The 9th year took place at three different and unique venues. What do we have in plan for the jubilee?

Dancers from Poland will kick off the Festival in April

The first important change will be the starting date of the festival. The first wave will take place already in April 2017 at two stages - the Cultural Hall in Valašské Meziříčí and the Cultural House in the village Zašová. The main star of the festival will then perform in October 2017 in the Municipal Theatre in Zlín, same as last year.

The organizers have also declassified the name of the first guest - for regular festival-goers this will be a brand new dance group which has not performed at the festival yet. The audience can already look forward to a Polish dance company Witamina T, which will introduce its choreography Speed ​​Dates on Saturday, April 22nd at the Cultural Hall in Valašské Meziříčí.

Celebrate the International Dance Day with DekkaDancers

"The second day of the festival was planned deliberately on Saturday, April 29th. It's a great opportunity to celebrate the International Dance Day. We hope that on this day we will really make people dance all around the town of Valašské Meziříčí. In cooperation with various dance classes from different Art Schools of the whole Zlín Region, we are preparing a series of workshops for young dancers and hopefully, there will even be a small surprise on the town square," promises the Director of the Festival Milada Borovičková.

The International Dance Day and the second festival day will then culminate during the evening on Saturday, April 29th at the Cultural House in Zašová, which will feature an outstanding and original domestic DekkaDancers ensemble consisting of solo dancers of the National Theatre in Prague.

"It's almost unbelievable that we already have nine years behind us. The festival has found its audience during the course of years and I believe that we will again attract new visitors this upcoming season. We definitely want to make the 10th year exceptional and memorable. In addition to classical performances by professional groups we therefore plan to celebrate this anniversary with a series of thematic accompanying events," Borovičková furter explains.

The name of the biggest stars of the festival that will perform in October in the Municipal Theatre in Zlín still remains a question mark. The organizers are currently in contact with several foreign companies. Soon you will be able to find out which one of them will be the icing on top of the cake that is the 10th annual edition of the festival - TANECVALMEZ 2017.
